Perspective Famille (formerly known as the Regroupement des familles monoparentales et recomposées de Laval) has been supporting families in transition for nearly 50 years.
Support families going through a family transition, single-parent situations, blended family structures, or separation processes by normalizing the context through preventive measures, individualized services, and group workshops, all aimed at minimizing the impact of separation on these families, always keeping the children's best interest in mind.
Perspective Famille aims to ease the family transitions experienced by single-parent, blended, or separating families by becoming the leading reference in support services.
We believe there are many definitions of family. By emphasizing the diversity of family journeys, we aim to normalize transitions while supporting each member in shaping their own path.
By focusing on the diversity of family trajectories, Perspective Famille aims to better meet the needs of families in transition.
A family transition refers to change and growth, driven by significant life events. A transition is the period between two relatively stable states. For example, parental separation, family blending, becoming a parent, or entering grandparenthood are all considered family transitions. These moments require adaptation and affect the functioning of every family member. Transitions impact each person's identity, as well as the relationships within the family (Robin & Fontaine, 2013).
A family trajectory represents the sum of the transitions a family goes through. It's like the family's story: each family builds its own. There is no single model or path.
The values of Perspective Famille are at the heart of our mission. They guide our actions and decisions, and reflect our commitment to the families we support.
Perspective Famille defines respect as consideration and understanding of oneself, others, and the environment. It means recognizing the whole person with dignity and fairness, regardless of individual characteristics. Perspective Famille considers respect a universal value that underpins all interpersonal relationships and is central to our organization.
Perspective Famille defines family as all members of a family unit who maintain a relationship or collaborate. This includes both parents, children, new partners, and their children when applicable. We value healthy family relationships and the contribution of each family member, whether immediate or extended.
Perspective Famille defines empowerment as the development and maintenance of autonomy, the ability to regain control over one’s life, and personal mobilization to improve the family’s living conditions.
Perspective Famille defines honesty as acting and speaking with integrity and loyalty. We expect honesty from our members and our team regarding their involvement and satisfaction with the organization.
Perspective Famille defines safety as the appropriate response to the fundamental needs for stability and physical, psychological, and emotional well-being of all family members.
Perspective Famille defines openness as an attitude of non-judgment and acceptance toward all its members, regardless of nationality, religion, sexual orientation, challenges, or differences. Our team demonstrates positive attitudes that foster connection and inclusivity.
Perspective Famille defines mutual support as families coming together to help one another, share solutions, and meet each other’s needs. We see mutual support as a value that applies both among members and within our team.
